Why we’re a member of the Safe Space Alliance

At Sensitive and Queer, we are happy to be listed with the Safe Space Alliance, a global LGBTQ+ led organisation that helps people identify, navigate, and create spaces that are actively safe for LGBTQ+ communities.

The Safe Space Alliance is a LGBTQI+ led nonprofit organisation that helps people identify, navigate, and create safe spaces for LGBTQI+ communities worldwide

It matters to us, and here’s why.

Because safety isn’t a given

For many queer people, especially those who are highly sensitive, introverted, or have experienced trauma, the world often doesn’t feel like a safe place. Even places that say they’re “inclusive” don’t always back it up with action or awareness.

We wanted to make it clear: this is a space where your identity, emotions, and boundaries are respected. That’s the kind of safety we’re building.

What it means to be a safer space

According to the Safe Space Alliance, a safe space is: “A space where LGBTQ+ people can freely express themselves without fear.”

For us, that means:

• You don’t have to hide parts of yourself here.

• We take emotional safety seriously, not as an afterthought.

• We welcome questions, feelings, boundaries, and complexity.

This isn’t just a sticker on a door or a rainbow slapped on a logo. It’s how we work, communicate, and show up.

Why visibility matters

Being listed publicly is one small way to say: “You’re not alone. You’re not too much. You’re not the only one.”

Especially if you’ve been made to feel like your sensitivity or your queerness is a burden, we want you to know it’s not. It’s something to honour, not fix.

The Safe Space Alliance helps people find places that get that. And we’re proud to be one of them.

What we actually do to stay aligned

We don’t just say we’re a safe space, we back it up by:

• Keeping everything trauma-informed and neurodivergent-aware.

• Creating content and coaching designed for people who feel deeply and often need quieter, slower spaces.

• Listening. Adjusting. Staying open to learning.

We also don’t pretend to be perfect. But we care, and we’re always working to do better.

In short…

We joined the Safe Space Alliance to say clearly:

  • This is a space built for LGBTQIA+ folks, especially the sensitive ones.

  • You don’t need to toughen up to belong here.

  • You can bring all of yourself, queer, soft, overwhelmed, brilliant, and be met with care.

That’s what safety means to us.
